·        to be a family-friendly fourth of july event

·        to increase awareness and use of the cannon river

There are two ways you can paddle your canoe or kayak in the paddle classic

A fun at-your-own-pace Race

A competitive Race

Participants will put their canoes/kayaks In the cannon river at the 5th street bridge (Ames Park) in downtown Northfield.

This is an up-and-back course.  The course starts in downtown Northfield between the 5th and 7th street bridges, then goes upstream towards Dundas, then there is a turnaround near Sechlar park, then the participants will paddle back and finish near the starting point in downtown Northfield.  (Note: The competitive race will either go all the way to Dundas and back, or half way to Dundas and back twice.)
